Questions and Answers

Q : I seem to be getting errors such as MSWINSCK is missing and Elementz are bringing up Page cannot be displayed. What is causing this?
A : An easy fix on this one. You system may be missing some Microsoft ActiveX Controls. The Microsoft Winsock control is used by the IFXeServer to send templates to Elementz. Additional ActiveX Controls 2 on the Support Files Page contains this control which should resolve the issue.

Q : Is InstantFX Elements targeted more at Developers or Designers?
A : Both! InstantFX Elements has a wide range of components in it that can be used by either stream. Some of the components in the release version possibly could be seen as more directed at Developers (for ASP/PHP, Database work or similar) however there are also many components that are more design related such as Menus, Image SlideShows, Tooltips, Random Links/Quotes/Images.

InstantFX Elementz also allows snippets (be it tables, layouts, text or scripted HTML code) to be saved and reused, this is useful from either point of view. Developers will probably find the option to use this feature in HTML View mode most advantageous.

Q : What are the advantages of InstantFX Elementz compared to similar addins?
A : The simplest and biggest advantage of InstantFX Elementz is it's expandability potential without having to reinstall or upgrade to a "next version". The flexible "HTML Generator" type approach that has been taken with this addin for its individual components allows both XZAKT Media and other developers to create additional "Elementz" with ease. These additional "Elementz" will then be able to be Imported to your library of tools. This will be one of the main areas that XZAKT Media will be concentrating on in the coming months, to continue to increase the amount of Elementz available and make these freely available. Development of additional Elementz, including more Slideshows, Gallery Tools, News Tickers and even Flash content is already underway.

Some of the other advantages of Elementz include continued FrontPage support for those not yet, or unable to, upgrade to Expression Web, its ability to be used in HTML View and its HTML snippets which become available across both Expression Web and FrontPage - handy for anyone switching between both products.

Q : I probably fall more into a "designer" category and have no need for database tools. Will Elementz have more image and Flash tools?
Yes! A new build of Elementz is underway that will include some additional scripting commands for us to utilize in creating more free import components ("Elementz") that we release. This will include tools for image resizing, thumbnailing, filtering and conversion. Flash templates/tools are already being worked on as well. Both expected to be placed in an updated release in early January 2007. For full blown Flash tools (MP3 Players, Slideshows, Navigation etc) we recommend looking at our InstantFX SE range of products :))
